Like it's predecessor, Oceanic's new DataMax Pro Plus 2 features a large, easy to read display coupled with our patented Graphic Diver Interface (green, yellow and red bar graphs), providing all the information a diver needs at a glance. As divers demand more from their diving equipment and as technology makes it a reality, at some point you have to step back and ask yourself "How much is too much? At what point does a new bell or whistle outweigh simplicity and ease of use?" Our objective early on in designing the Pro Plus was to let the diver decide. The biggest difference is freedom of choice. Freedom to have access to more information and customize the computer to your diving experience and style. With rapid advance dual button operation, the diver can easily customize many features and operation of the computer. Or, simply push a button and go diving. The Pro Plus really can be as simple or as advanced as the diver wants it to be. Technical details DATE & TIME STAMP The Pro Plus features time of day on the surface as well as underwater for quick reference. Time and date stamp also helps you to easily identify specific dives in Log Mode or PC download memory. USER FRIENDLY MODE ICONS All Oceanic computers feature bar graphs and universal icons that help you to quickly understand the information displayed on the screen at a glance. PC SOFTWARE INTERFACE OceanLink and OceanLog software provides intuitive post-dive analysis and logging. You have the option to add and/or edit many pieces of information to customize your log book, with data such as depth and decompression status during a dive, maximum depth, bottom time, air consumption, air time remaining, no-decompression status, descent and ascent rate, surface interval, and any violations recorded automatically. AUTOMATIC ALTITUDE COMPENSATION All Oceanic computers automatically compensate for altitude up to 14,000 feet, giving adjusted no-decompression times and depths. They even automatically recalibrate the depth display for freshwater instead of seawater. DIVER REPLACEABLE BATTERIES All Oceanic computers feature diver replaceable batteries. This can be a real trip-saver on board a live-aboard boat! PRE-DIVE PLANNING SEQUENCE Oceanic computers help you plan your dives with a Pre-Dive Planning Sequence that shows how long you can stay at various depths from 30 to 160 feet on your next dive. The displayed no-decompression dives take your previous profiles, elapsed surface time and on some models, breathing gas mix into account, providing continually updated information. 24 HOUR TIME-TO-FLY AND DESATURATION TIME Over the years, the flying after diving rules have changed several times. Some models provide a dual 12 hour countdown timer. People use their own judgement, training and current recommendations to wait either 12 or 24 hours before flying. The Pro Plus features both this dual 12 hour countdown timer and Desaturation Time, the theoretical time required to off-gas all residual nitrogen at sea level. VARIABLE ASCENT RATE INDICATOR U.S. Patent No. 5,156,055 Some computers simply flash an icon, telling you that you're going too fast. ceanic's Variable Ascent Rate Indicator bar graph acts as an ascent rate speedometer, allowing you to very precisely monitor your ascent. GRAPHIC DIVER INTERFACE U.S. Patent No. 4,882,678 Using the recognizable logic of green, yellow and red color coding in conjunction with bar graphs, the diver has at-a-glance information. As easy to understand as a traffic light, the Graphic Diver Interface helps you to easily monitor No-Decompression status, Oxygen accumulation, Ascent Rate, and Air Time Remaining. OCEANGLO® BACKLIGHTING Select models offer OceanGlo illumination at the touch of a button - making the display easy to read in low visibility or night dives. SMARTGLO SURFACE BACKLIGHTING Select models feature SmartGlo surface backlighting. SmartGlo provides the benefits of backlighting on the surface when you need it, at the same time conserving battery power when you don't. Infrared ports have been used for years in production to calibrate our dive computers. More recently, they are used in conjunction with our software package to download data to a PC. When either button is depressed, SmartGlo analyses the intensity of light that is passing through these infrared ports. If a low light level is detected, SmartGlo will illuminate the display. The best of both worlds… It's there when you need it, conserving battery power when you don't. AIR OR NITROX COMPATIBILITY The Pro Plus acts simply as an 'Air' computer until the diver tells it otherwise. Whether that be this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grows, the DataMax Pro Plus is designed to grow with you. The Pro Plus may be easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%. AIR TIME REMAINING The Air Time Remaining feature calculates current depth, tank pressure, your breathing rate, ascent time, and decompression status to tell you exactly how much time you can remain underwater. The Pro Plus continually displays Air Time Remaining via a bar graph beneath tank pressure. DIVE TIME REMAINING Dive Time Remaining, like Air Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes. This calculation combines Air Time Remaining and Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time. EXPANDED MEMORY The memory accessible via PC download has been greatly expanded. The diver may choose at which rate the computer samples and stores data for later download. More frequent sampling produces higher detail, with an overall reduced capacity. Less frequent sampling produces reduced detail, but expands the total number of dives. Depending on the dive profile and the sampling rate defined by the used, up to 250 dives may be downloaded at a time. FULL-TIME PO2 DISPLAY Most dive computers display your current PO2 (Nitrox) only when it has reached a pre-set warning. The Pro Plus features full-time PO2, displayed with temperature and time of day on an alternate screen. This and other information is available to you if desired at the push of a button. MAXIMUM DEPTH ALARM The Maximum Depth Alarm provides an audible warning upon reaching your planned maximum depth. An important safety feature for deeper dives or less experienced divers. 'TURN' GAS ALARM The 'Turn' Gas Alarm is a unique patent-pending feature that allows you to pre-program an audible alarm when you reach 1000 to 3000 psi in 250 psi increments. This helps ensure that you return to your exit point with plenty of air. 'END' GAS ALARM Air Time Remaining calculations are based on the 'End' Gas Alarm. You define how much air you want in reserve upon reaching the surface QUICK LINK OPTIONAL FEATURE With a simple quarter turn by hand, divers are able to disconnect their Pro Plus from the high pressure hose. Since tools are not required, one can quickly remove the computer module to be protected, kept secure or downloaded. When ready for use again the gauge can be quickly reconnected, safely and securely. The Pro Plus Disconnect is manufactured to be nitrox compatible.
